Tom Randall
Daniel plays Tom Randall, Jack Randall's estranged son. Tom is in Africa for the summer, helping his father with the mine clearing; although he is essentially an unwilling participant, obviously he wants to stay in order to reach some type of reconciliation with his father. During the flight from the mercenaries, the plane is shot down and Tom is injured. Despite that, he manages to help in the initial escape and, after being captured by the mercenaries, the escape that follows that. During the movie, Tom evolves from a sullen, head-strong teenage and gains understanding of both himself and his father.

Synopsis
In war-torn Angola during a time of peace, army veteran Jack Randall (Patrick Bergin), has a dangerous mission . . . clearing minefields. But when the truce is broken, he and his allies face a new hazard – escaping the rebel force. Stranded in the middle of a mine-filled war zone, five unlikely soldiers are just one step ahead of a ruthless mercenary . . . and one step away from death.

The Movie
Unfortunately, it's basically forgettable with a story line that lacks strength or novelty. However, focus on the father/son relationship sub-plot and you'll find it interesting. Not that it's new ground, but Daniel gets the opportunity to work with a range of emotions that will draw you in.
